If your reactor is external, aluminum foil is a good choice. However, if you reactor is sitting in saltwater, not a good choice. Go with a plastic cover....like the drain pipe.

So any other tips for getting rid of my cyano? I added another wp25 to bring it to a total of 2 wp25s and 2 wp40s. Still have cyano on a majority of 2-3 rocks.

Alright, I really need some help guys. Cyano. How do I get rid of it? I siphoned out, took rocks out, scrubbed them, went lights out for 2 days. It seemed like it worked a little but it keeps coming back even thicker it seems. I feel like some of my zoas aren't appreciating it either

On my tank in the past I used red slime remover and it worked well. What are your parameters at?

All are in check except for my phosphates, they're a tad bit high. Still trying to get my biopellets underway. My nitrates are below 5ppm always. No ammo, no nitrites, alk and calc are stable, mag is a little high but nothing crazy

How is your skimmer performing? Do you have it set to skim high?

The only thing I can think of is it is coming from the pellets/bacteria.

Cyano was the main reason I shut the pellets off. remove the pellets and the cyano will go away.

I am sure i was doing something wrong but everything i tried didn't work. i removed the pellets and my cyano cleared up. It wasn't worth me trying to get them to work right for me.

Skimmer is fine. Emptying it once a week with thick gunk.

I may try the red slime remover, if it doesn't work, would I essentially have to go back to GFO?

Yeah maybe try high capacity this time. I hate voicing opinions on this stuff because it starts a war (much like vortex and jaebo, leds vs. Halides, etc.) but I would never run biopellets on a tank. I've seen nothing but poor results in the case of sps which obviously is important to me. Leaves them very pastel and dull. Though I speak from lack of experience because I have never tried them. I've seen enough threads on reef2reef though to stay away.

Hmm that's comforting news Kyle Lol darn it. Well I hope this red slime helps. If not then I guess I have no choice but to go back to GFO :/

I mean that's just me, nobodys tank is the same but these guys had massive beautiful acros so I trusted their experience. Trust me I hope it works out for you buddy. Maybe you should just give it a few more weeks
