Dan's 150 Rebuild

I'm was planning on having everything controllable from under the tank. Not a fan of reaching behind to turn a valve if I have to lol

You want to avoid metal like the plague….especially with contact with water. So I'm hoping you actually don't have a metal check valve.

And yes, check valves will fall….with something caught in them or simply scaled up with deposits. I would recommend not using them….or if you do, unions on either side so that they can be removed with frequency to clean or change.

+1. I would think a check valve with metal in it would rust out very quickly making them ineffective not to mention leaching things into your tank. If you want to run a check valve use a quality true union check valve like Paul said and clean it often or use a wye check valve and clean it often. Still the best option of all is to design your system with an air break and enough room in the sump for any excess water that comes back.

Where did all this talk about metal check valves come into play? I don't even have any of them nor was I planning on using them Lol

That tank that's up a few posts isn't mine guys, that's FishBrains tank lol

Does anyone think it'd be easier just to use flex line to connect the manifold to the return pipe? Instead of having all those angles and what not?

Also, the return line pipe I have that's going across the top of the tank with locline, best way to support that? Could I just use the metal straps and have it bolt to the back of the canopy?

Yeah they would Jim, but not for the top. The line is going to be resting on the top of the tank literally so I wouldn't have anywhere to bolt to. Those will work if I get a piece of wood for the manifold, definitely. Here's what I mean

Well if I found like a 50pk or something I'd probably put quite a few up there lol

Any other ideas other than those? Sounds like it might be my only option
