Dan's 150 Rebuild

Yesterday I did some maintenance to my tank(water change, cleaned glass etc). Well I also wanted to remove a couple mini colonies I had off of their plugs and mount them to the rocks. All of them look ok minus my red planet and another unknown. It seems the unknowns flesh is falling off from the bottom and the red planet has a similar thing but not as bad. Any idea why this would happen? All of my #'s r in check for the most part.

Most likely alk swing, or phos/nitrate being to low. But no one really knows what causes it.

Woke up this morning. The flesh has peeled off a bit further on the unknown acro I have. I'm gonna cut it in half when I get home tonight. Red planet looked the same.

My new dilemma... My lights that I just bought won't work with any controller(ramping up and down). I've just been told that Reef Radiance is releasing a new light, the DM-155C which IS controllable by apex(not sure if it is with RK and RA). Still waiting to hear back from Rick at RR.

The fact that it's still happening strongly suggests what saltkreep said.

Anyone have any ideas why my tank is still cloudy? When I look thru the side of the tank, its very foggy. I run carbon in a reactor. Running pellets also.

Probably a bacteria bloom

Sounds like it might be a bloom. Did you dump more pellets in yet or still at the same as the last time I talked to you? If it is the bloom from the pellets your skimmer will probably be spewing more than normal. It should go away within a week.

For what it's worth some people have great success with pellets and others do not. I know I ran them and had nothing but problems and algae issues. almost instantly when i took them off things improved.

I hear ya. I never had good luck with GFO tho, that's why I figured I'd try pellets.
Your pellets are still maturing. It is going to change slightly every time you add more.

Yeah I'm gonna leave it the way it is for now and just test daily.
