I shoud add that I run both a 36 watt UV and 50 mg ozone units. UV is full time during the winter when heaters are running, only at night when it's warm. Ozone is 3 -5 hours a night depending upon ORP readings.
I was playing around with my simple 2 1/2 gallon aquarium/top down veiwing box and took a few picks, well a bunch of pics anyway here are some that I liked.
Lucky jade from the swap ;D
The slowest growing colony I have, a gemmifera
The fastest growing coral in my display, a pink & purple mili from stan
My birds nest also from stan, finally taking off
A stoli just begining to fan out nicely
A blue tort over a pink pocci
And a close up of the tort
One of these days I'll learn how to work this camera ... for now these are some of my better shots :
I was always low on Ca until I hooked up the reactor, even with dripping Kalk, and I still dose Mg with water changes. I also top off through a Kalk mixer now. But IO has been around for ever and it's reasonably priced for a staple in the SW hobby that's rare. So I use it.
A sad non-reef related note. Sammi, my 17 1/2 year old springer spaniel, constant companion to my kids since they arrived from the hospital at birth is gone.
She was truly a man's best friend and will be missed.
Thanks Mike it's kind of funny, the only digital pics I could find on my computer were ones of her sleeping ... but I guess when we get to be 100 and something years old, we'd be lucky to still be napping too!
Thanks blandge3
That is one inherent trait of springers, they are real care givers if anyone was sick in the house Sammi was always with them. She also shepherded our two girls (now 14 & 10) around the house when they were little like they were her sole responsibility. Great family dogs!
It was a real heart breaker for the kids.
