Here's my Big Office System

Re: Here's my 120

Sorry I missed the meeting Bax. ::)

I wanted to see that great tank and those magnificent clams in person.

Banish the foxface and save the squammy!

One of the things that pushed me to go after the 180 is my desire for more clams. And looking at the pictures of yours inspired that desire. ;)

Re: Here's my 120

Hey! No problem!

All goes well you can come to next years meeting to see the 220! That's if the economy will support a little driller like me ::)

On the extremely weird side of the reef, my Midas blenny that disapeared back on March 7 reappeared today!

It is in rough shape, but this guys a fighter so I scooped him up and put in the isolation chamber I acclimated/introduced the new dottyback in. I am pretty sure he's suffering from a venemous encounter with that darned rabbit :-\

That's strike two, today, against the rabbit for those keeping score cards.

RIP Midas blenny.

Still kinda wiered how he just showed up like that? ???

Sorry to hear that Bax. It's crazy the way things happen. We had a yellow neon goby dissappear for months. We had written it off as long gone and then one day it shows up out of the blue, swimming around and eating and then it's never seen again. Meanwhile, the other yellow one that we introduced at the same time has been out and about from the get go. It's a strange little world inside that box of water!

Re: Here's my 120

I havn't had time to do much of anything lately, but I did snap some shots today. The squammy is still in the fuge, it is starting to loook better. My gemmifera is struggling, I am starting to frag it for posterity.

Here's the good news, some pics

Thanks!

And. the foxface is pretty good. He does give the blue stripped rabbit a hard time during feeding, but otherwise they graze the rock and glass together along with the yellow tang all day long.

The rabbit is another story, shroom & zoo eater and taster of avery thing. But, I had no shrooms, and took out the few zoos I had. He eats bubble aglea and is probably my best grazer of trouble algea. That said along with the shroom/zoo thing, he may have accidently stung my Midas blenny, and seems to be "tasting" my clam at the moment ... that is likely to pass as this dope tries to eat everyhting at least once and then goes back to grazing.

Re: Here's my 120

thanks for the info. baxreefs.
yeah ill be alil cautious with the rabbit tho..good idea taking the zoos out

feel bad for the blenny :-\

The orchid dottybacks are interacting quite a lot, I hesitate to call them a pair, but they are often nearby and it's not just checking each other out over curiosity or territory any more. They move so fast it's impossible for me to get a good sharpe pic of both of them given my skill with a camera :p

Re: Here's my 120

The joy of running a reef tank in your office of an old industrial building! ::)

Went away for the weekend. When I came in this morning it was 91.5 degs in my fishroom!. I keep a 20" fan blowing across the floor 24/7 to keep air circulating to the chiller (which is tucked under the stairs) and the old fan finally gave out. I also have an exhaust fan on a T-stat. but even at 220 cfm it cant keep up when it is even a little warm out.

The chiller kept the tank and system at 80 or just below, but my QT was up to 86! I only have a pair of damsels and my hermits in there, they are awaiting the Interceptor treatment I keep holding off on while hoping to catch my blood shrimp ( a point I am about to give up on as he's uncatchable).

Anyway, it appears that no damage was done to the system, we'll see how the QT makes out. I go through a temperature balancing act at each change of the seasons. I plan to upgrade the chiller an move it outside the fishroom and upgrade the exhaust fan as well ... one day I'll get this thing right! :p

Re: Here's my 120

Thanks Mike, I hate to nuke the shrimp, but every effort I have made to catch him has only resulted in lots of broken coral :-\
