Hi All!
My name is Derek and I live in Chester Springs, PA. I have been married for almost 4 years and I have an 11yo stepdaughter, 2 1/2 yo daughter and 8 month old son (and I am done...LOL) I am currently the webmaster for the Delaware Valley Reef Club (www.delvalreefclub.org) Thanks, Phyllis, for all your help getting us up and running!!!
I am a new member of the NJ Reefers because I spend 2-3 nights/week in Edison, NJ for work and spend a ton of money at Aquatic Obsessions!
I am a newbie for sure. I started with a 14g BioCube in December, 2006. It was a great tank and I never had any problems. However, the bug had bit me and in September, I upgraded to a 125g (72x24x18) AGA tank with dual overflows. I bought it used on eBay and basically started over. It had no coral and 300lbs of rock (front to back, top to bottom, all covered with hair algae), horrible flourescent lights, 2 wet/dry filters. It was a mess. I now have the tank in my living room. I have it plumbed to the basement with a separate 35g fuge and 30g sump. My return is a BlueLine HD70. I also have it plumbed into my house plumbing with a ball valve, so water changes take under 5 minutes. (Turn off the system, let sump fill up, turn valve, drain sump, close valve, pump in fresh saltwater and turn the system back on).
Equipment includes:
2 Vortechs on either side of main tank with wireless wave drivers
72" OuterOrbit Pro with 3x250w 14K Phoenix MH and 8x39w T5 actinics
AquaC EV-180 skimmer
2x 300w heaters
2x Phosban Reactors (one for carbon, one used for Phosban when necessary)
BlueLine HD70
1/15hp Artica Chiller (came from my BioCube and is doing the job right now, but a new chiller is in the future)
My new AquaC RX-1 calcium reactor, ph controller and CO2 regulator/solenoid, all arrived today and will go on the tank this weekend! I am psyched.

1 orange spotted rabbitfish
1 sohal tang (who is nasty and stressed 4 fish to their deaths in the last 3 weeks...arghh)

Hello NJ reefer's..My is name Bill from Monmouth county. I been into salt water tanks for around 15 years. But i just got a 24gal. Aquapod wit the 70watt mh light from Tropiquarium its gonna be my 1st reef tank ;D so im hoping to learn alot from here and meet some good people. As soon as i get it up and goin ill fill you all in.

well i got my mrc-3 today, i didnt realize just how big this thing was, i built a stand for it tonight and painted it to match the tank, i going to plumb it in this weekend, i filled it with water to check for leaks, and sure enough, it has a couple at the seams and around the base of the reaction chamber, i got this clear 2 part epoxy i am going to try, i think it will work, and i cleaned it out with vinigar alsojust in case, will post a progress report as soon as its up and running

My name is Jay, I have been a NJ resident for most of my life and I have been keeping SW tanks for several years now.
Before I took the plunge I spent about a year just reading, researching, and just when I was about to dive in headfirst…I stopped and read some more!
I quickly discovered that the smaller the aquarium I used, the harder it would be to keep my parameters in check. I knew this was where I was to start. I chose to start on a 5 gallon Pico tank. In this tank I kept a little over 5 pounds of LR, LS, and 1 Clownfish. I had this tank running successfully for several months until I got the itch. I wanted more and knew I could not overload this system so I quickly upgraded my tank to a 55-gallon aquarium.
I had the 55-gallon tank up and running for over 2 years. This was my first attempt at keeping a reef tank. During this time I tested, experimented, and just had fun. I had a used MH light, skimmer, and canister filter among other new upgrades. To make a long story short, this tank also became too small.
Several months ago I decided to upgrade my entire system. I now have a 90-gallon reef ready aquarium, with a 75-gallon sump, a new MH light fixture (2x250W and 2x96W Actinic), 2x Koralia 1200GPH power heads, and a Reef Keeper II controller (highly recommended). I guess I went a bit overboard but this addiction quickly became an obsession. Before I made the transfer I decided to give away most of my coral for fear that they would not make a good transition into the new tank so there isn’t that much in my new tank.
The inhabitants consist of some transfers from my old tank and then some new recruits I have picked up. The veterans are, the Bi-color Blenny, Canary Wrasse, 2 Clarkiis (which have now been sumped due to their aggressiveness and soon to find a new home). The new recruits are 3 Chromis, 2 Onyx Perculas, and a baby Regal Tang. The coral are all transfers from the old setup and my Quad Anemone has been with me since I had my 55-gallon.

Route 9 in Howell. Near the Office Max in the Howell Commons Plaza. Same plaza as the Applebees as well.
I must say, I quite like the job. Though the higher-ups aren't that great, our bunch of employees are pretty rad. I've treated the salt water and fed it with my own supplies in the past. Talk about dedication (or stupidity and a waste of money ;D).

Hello my name is Mauro DiBenedetto, originally from NYC (Canarsie) I live in Massachusetts and am a Board of Directors member of the Boston Reefers.
