Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
If you're willing to come to Sayreville, I have neon green candy cane (a colony or single head) and a fresh cut head of green hammer. If not limited to LPS, I have some LPS as well. All for free.
Holy Tuna sandwich Batman! At around ten feet, and assuming Atlantic Bluefin, you're looking at about 1000 pounds.....and fresh caught, and the right market, approaching a million bucks!!! Get that little guppy over to Fulton fish market NOW.
Oh! no skimmer.....Carbon dosing needs; requires, a means of exporting the growing bacteria. If you don't do this, you're simply growing bacteria that eventually dies and recycles the N, P and C in you tank. The big question mark is what, if anything, does floss remove in the way of bacteria...
I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Changing the filter floss isn't going to impact bacterial growth. It might slightly help in removing some of the bacteria associated with the detritus, but your skimmer will be doing the majority of this "exporting." Whatever carbon you are using...
Dosing the DIY version is the same as the commercial NOPOX. To summarize, it's between 1-3 mls for each 25 gallons. When first starting I'd do 1ml per 25g for the first week. If it looks good, up to 2mls per 25g for the second week. And finally, go to 3mls per 25g....until...
@diana a , by chance do you have an Ecotech MP40? What I'm interested in is whether or not a Jecod wetside would work with an Ecotech dryside. I've already seen that a Jecod dryside will work with an Ecotech wetside, but I'm interest in the reverse. I'm done buying Ecotech wetsides....I...
The large clubs only sell known branded booze...not the least expensive. You want the no-name rot-gut vodka.....a Travelers, Taaka, or one that actually tells you it's good....
These are THE BEST vodka's $12.99 or $13.99 you can buy....for 1.75 liters. Believe me, the bacteria won't be...
There's a pretty big thread going over on R2R:
The Ecotech pump clones have arrived in Ali Express !!!
I'm pretty sure I saw @diana a 's name in that thread.....if she is Fishface NJ on R2R.
Darn, I must have missed this debate!!! Is the debate "Sauce" versus "Gravy" when it comes to that stuff you put on your pasta? This isn't a Jersey thing, I think it's more of a real Brooklyn (NYC) Gumba thing. I don't mean to pick on NYC, but the only time I've heard the debate or use...
I've been carbon dosing for years....albeit a combination of vodka and vinegar (a DIY NOPOX). My suggestion is to start slow and build up to your final dose over a couple weeks. The reason is that every cell/organism can metabolize "carbon" (my PhD focused on the metabolism of alcohol in the...
Free to a good home, seven, 7" socks. Note, the two on the left have beat up rings from the washing machine, but still work fine (in my sock holder)
Pick up in Sayreville.
Wow! That's a MICRO pump....recommended dose of 0.01 milliliters. That's 10 μl...that's microliters. To give you an idea, a drop of water is around 50 μl. Who is dosing such small amounts? My guess is that these overpriced pumps are going to be discontinued. BRS still has them...
I dose Dr. Randy's DIY two part (since 2008) and DIY NOPOX, all using BRS 1.1 ml dosing pumps controlled by a ReefKeeper II. The BRS pumps have "real" peristaltic pump heads and are bulletproof. I was never a fan of those mini pump heads....looked cheap.
It's been years....and I'm terrible with time....maybe 10-12 years ago, we'd donate $$, I think around 5000, to Ken Nedimyer of Coral Restoration FOundation. We did that at least twice because both times he came up and gave a talk, which was extremely interesting. Some of our club members...
