Dose and test. Bring the ammonia level up to somewhere around 2 or 3 ppm. Picture below is what I used for 50 gal. As you can see. I didn’t use much at all.
I like just adding pure ammonia. 100% pure ammonia, (sold for cleaning). It worked well for me. There are many ways, including the rotting meat method you are using. With pure ammonia you don’t have to wait for decomposition.
I’m happy with the bio pellet reactor. It got my nitrates down to 3. My phosphates went up though. I’m using phosguard in a media bag & a filter cup. I’m starting out slow, with about 1/2 the recommended amount. I’ll measure my phosphates in a couple days. The phosguard works too fast if used in...
Yea. A lot of people like Hanna ultra low range, but I was looking for a more economical option. I’ll probably go for the Hanna eventually. I have a good enough idea, to know that my po4 is too high right now around 0.2 give or take a little.
Btw. I really like the new test kit. Very easy to read. Although the api kit I have is pretty much spot on, I like the and ease of use of the nyos kit better. Any experience with there phosphate test kit? I’m not crazy about my Seachem phosphate kit.
They are overpriced. No I have no other leathers. Some of my lps are Not looking so great. My mushrooms and green star are the only other softies. They look ok. The problem is the toadstool. That’s the only one that looks like it could be in real trouble.
I just got the nyos test kit. My No3 is 3. Lfs recorded it at 30. I also got the cal fluid. My salinity wasn’t as low as they recorded either. They charged me for these erroneous tests as well. From now on I’ll buy good test equipment and won’t trust lfs to test my water. The guy there didn’t...
I bought a conch a few months ago. For about the first month, it was out cruising the sandbed daily. It quickly did a great job cleaning my sand. Best cuc member I ever had. Then one day, I noticed it wasn’t out all day. Days turned to weeks, and it’s been at least a month. Well tonight, I got...
Thank. I just finished my order from marine depot moments befor you posted. That looks like a nice kit, and not too expensive compared to some alternatives. Temporary out of stock though. I’ll get it when it comes in stock for sure.
For nitrate yes. I also use api for nitrate. There numbers are miles apart from mine. I’ve been using api for ammonia, nitrite. And nitrate. I have Seachem for Po4, Salifert for ph, and Red Sea foundation pro for the alk, cal & mag.
I took my water to absolutely fish to test. There numbers are completely different than mine. No wonder my coral look like hell. There salinity measured 1.020. My test messures 1.024. My nitrates measure 5. There’s measure 30. Obviously I have to fix the salinty. My $20 refractometer is not...
