Tank dkh can be anyplace between 7 and 12 and be fine, calcium between 400-450, mag is fine as long as it's over 1200 or whatever sea water is, after my battle with bryopsis my tank has been sitting anywhere from 1600-2100ppm mag.
Alk at 7 shouldn't harm anything, calc at 300 will, bring that up to 380 min, i like 420 - 430 as it gives some wiggle room. Don't do it all at once though, bringing it up to 380 should be over a couple of days, do roughly 50ppm per day at most, spread it out.
I have the apex WAV and they are great, easy to program, lots of options, right through my controller. I had one issue with a cage falling off the front of one, they replaced the entire pump no charge. If i didn't have these i would probably go with the vortec's as i have an in wall build and no...
Alex at reefabout has both the orange passion and the walt disney in his tank, along with many other high end stuff, I don't know when he plans on fragging them next but he waits for them to heal and he'll give you a better price on them.
Well, now i'm a bit confused, the tank is by no means taking off yet, i've found my alk low the other day, around 6, raised it up to 8, and started dosing kalk again, roughly .2dkh worth a day. I have 4 small acro frags and one 4 inch colony, the rest are lps. After three days, my tank is back...
I have an 8 bulb on top of mine and have no real issues with temp, in the summer it will get up to 81 or so but no big deal, i usually keep the tank at 78.5. I also have mine raised about 16 inches off of the tank. I'm not sure what color you're going for but if you want bright, I had two aqua...
this is also one of the quietest skimmers i've ever owned, i've had the hob reef octo as well as another one i can't remember the name to, and the last reef octo in my sump, but you could always hear the bubbling sound from the pump, this thing is dead silent, no bubbling noise, no pump noise...
here's hoping i can get the growth in the tank back on track as well as get this green nightmare under control. I've debated shutting down the tank for two months and nuking it, but i keep going back to how much i've put into it and don't really want to give in yet. I'm just waiting to get to...
I might be on the other side of the fence with the 1.022 reading. I used ro/di and for months, i couldn't figure out why my coral were slowly dying, mostly sps, but the lps were by no means taking off. I would put a frag in, it would take about 3 months for it to stn. All parameters in range...
bigger hose is on, no more air restriction, ph is jumping back up, skimmer is working like a champ, i torn out a pound or two of bryopsis yesterday, things are getting back on track here.
Yeah, opening the volute seemed to help a bit, then it seemed to do nothing after a few turns, and it was right at the top, borderline where the head was starting, so i popped the intake pipe that leads outside and water went straight down, now the output pipe is sitting at about 25% closed and...
