Actually one quick thing to add. Flow through the UV is the biggest piece, too slow and its useless, too fast and there isn't enough contact time to do its job.
Like most topics this one is just so flip/flop. Take a look at certain people's tank, some run one and some don't. People with amazing SPS and LPS health run UV and others don't. For a 25Gallon not sure I would do it but I think once a tank is cycled it is a worth while investment.
Do you have a controller of some kind? I have mine setup to sense a power failure and cut a bunch of equipment off and leave a few things running, like power heads. This allows for about 90 minutes of battery life, not bad. Definitely allows you time to get your generator going and cabled up...
Looks great need to stop by and check it out. Just a word of caution on the salinity probe, make sure to calibrate monthly. I have seen both that the pH probe be off by as much as .5 once calibrated.
I would also take your water somewhere to be tested, ACC will do this for you down in Ocean. I have seen plenty of bad test kits lead myself and others down the wrong path in the past. For now you are going to have to accept losing the fish, unless you can move them to QT ASAP. Something in...
If you purchase a generator make sure you buy at least two maintenance kits for it. All the generators have a 'maintenance recommended' timer. Mine is 200 hours of use, which is just over 8 days. We were out of power for 2 weeks with Sandy, so that is at least 1 maintenance kit.
Been trying to get back into Scuba diving and wanted to know of folks local dive shop experiences. I was at East Coast diving center and Divers Two, and both seemed nice for different reasons.
Any others people have positive experiences with?
Niger Trigger used to bite me every time my hand went into the tank, startling and I have bled.
Years ago I had a jeweled moray that bit my hand, on the webbing between two of my fingers, bleeding pain, infection HOLY COW bad. I also had a banded catshark, while the bit didn't result in blood...
Will wait until Friday afternoon to see, but I did the maintenance on my generator in the beginning of September so I am ready to go if the power does crap out again.
I was going to suggest that if you are shipping the car, make sure to budget for a complete detail upon arrival. We had two cars shipped from San Francisco to NY and they arrived not only filthy but so many dead bugs it was a real job to clean it well.
