To add to this, it's the reason i'm looking to upgrade my skimmer. It's perfect as far as bioload i believe, but the more outside air i can pull into it, the more interaction with the water, the higher my ph will go.
Not sure then, i use about a pound an a half of it and it lasts me roughly a week. try opening the windows if you are able to, let some outside air in.
When my windows are closed mine sits around there, an outside airline usually helps, what does a better job for me but is a little more costly is getting granulated soda lime, making a makeshift filter, i made mine out of an old gfo carton, fill it with the c02 media and running the skimmer line...

At this point with mine, i can dump a teaspoon in and get the nitrates to 10ppm and it will be down to zero before the weeks end, my tank just tears through them.
i dump 1/8th of a teaspoon of the dry mix into my tank every other day, it may not be enough and i might up it to every day, i tested zero nitrates this morning before lights on. Thats with my cyano dying off.
