With a Herbie you have a siphon that handles all the flow. You also have a second drain that is taller than the siphon. It just acts as an emergency drain to keep the tank from overflowing if the siphon gets clogged or out of adjustment. There's a gate valve on the siphon line that you use to...

How many holes do you have in your overflow? Can you do a Herbie setup? I setup one on my tank a few months ago and it is pretty quiet when dialed in.

It's going to depend what optics that you used and the area you are trying to cover. On my 120 I have mine about 10 or 12 inches. That's with 90 degree optics.

Thanks for the help today John. The purple plus bulbs makes a big difference. It really brings out the red in my fish. My wrasses didn't even recognize each other and started flashing each other as soon as I fired them up. Btw if you ever want to car pool over to ASR or the Reef Hut lmk.
