We have no luck with them. I've tried a number of times and all they do is slowly dwindle down to nothing and then disappear. I have no idea why but we just can't keep them, which is a shame because I really like the look they add to a tank.
That looks great. You guys did a great job so far, and you're right, the location is perfect!
I'm really glad to see that Francis' tank went to a good home and that it's still gonna be part of our "family". Keep the updates coming.
I gotta tell you Mike, the 2 we have are really annoying. The worst part is that one of them is intermitently loud so you can't even just get used to it. It'll start buzzing for 30 seconds, then quiet down for 15 then get loud for 45 then quiet down for a minute then get loud for 20 . . . It's...
No matter how well you take care of a fish like that, it's still gonna die at some point. You'd have to be a lotto winner to be able to deal with that trauma!
I've used a few different models in the Koralia line and am pretty impressed with their quality and performance. My only criticism of them is that they have a tendency to not want to kick on if they've been off for a little while. I've never used the Tunze Nano but we do have other Tunze...
It looks like it's coming along well. Sorry to hear about your fall and the loss of corals. The good news is that even with a bum leg you're still looking at it as the tank half full and not half empty!
Wow, this was a shock. I fully expected it to be just the opposite. That's really strange. How much top-off water do you use daily? Have you tested the pH of the effluent from your kalk reactor? What type of kalk media are you using? I really think that the kalk reactor should be bringing your...
One thing that will give you a better chance at success, especially if you're reusing a fitting, is to use Rain-R-Shine cement. It comes in a blue can and is VERY thick. That stuff pretty much guarantees a good seal.
This was a kind of tricky installation as it is an in-wall tank that's up pretty high. We had to cut a hole in a shelf for the drain line which needed to be pretty precise. As a result, I don't want to have to change anything, so thanks for the offer but I'd much rather replace the broken tube.
I left it there and have no way of measuring it. I would guess it's probably 3/4" diameter and each leg is about 4" (with one being a little longer than the other). There are ridges along the bend.
Does anyone know where I can find a replacement U-Tube for an overflow box? I was setting up a tank for a friend on Sunday and his U-tube fell and cracked. We were able to use a hair dryer to bend a couple of pieces of 3/4" vinyl hose (which are working well) but I'd really like to get the right...
We had a PB for about 6 months and it was doing really well. Unfortunately, when we upgraded from the 120 to the 180 it (and our Sohal) developed a nasty case of ich and both died in the same weekend. I'm assuming it was the stress induced by the move that made them more susceptible to it...
