Just saw this and while it comes up every once an awhile, a good reminder that some things which are in our tanks could be very dangerous.
+1 on the Tunze. There is a design flaw though. When you power it off and then back on, the pump will run regardless of the water level. I confirmed this with Tunze, I believe they said it do to the sensor powering up. So during a blackout, pre generator. The power company was turning the...
if you want to control the mp10 then the wireless expansion, I haven't done that yet as I just leave mine set to the reef setting, with only 6 plugs, you should be fine with the controller, and a 8 socket energy bar. Don't forget about your heater. That still leaves you with 1 more plug. I...
Really depends what you want to do. How many items you want to control. I have 2x8 outlets, 2x 4 outlet, a breakout box, variable control for my apex.
Love my Apex!!
Now I know why someone stole my gas card. I just got a $600 gas bill for last month. I'm sure the gasoline station guy didn't give it back to me and is has sold it. I don't use it much so didn't even realize it was gone!!
So I need some help understanding all this. I run a AI and no where close to running at 100%. From what I have seen from others not many people do run at 100%. So if a fixture is dimmable, wouldn't 2 units possible give out the same PAR, just at different % levels?
So if I run my AI at 100%...
Not to sound like a downer, but there is the saying that nothing good in reefing happens quick. Take it slow and you will save money and headaches down the road. If you are cycled, still take it slow. I only added 1 fish per month to let everything settle in and equalize when I started.
Interesting concept, but I wanted a complete set it and forget it system, so unless I missed a post this type of process would accommodate for that (I didn't read the entire thread).
Yes Malulu does do constant water changes as well. I'm not sure what hardware he uses.
I am using the...
The main reason I set up a continuous water change system is laziness. The benefit though is that you don't have the chance of changing the water parameters when doing a large water change. The benefits are written up in one article by Randy Holmes-Farley, whom I don't think anyone in this...
I have a swc, great skimmer BUT I would not buy it again.
1 I had an issue with the pump, and getting a replacement under warranty was a pita. They wanted the pump first with no option to give a cc and return the broken one.
2 I decided to just buy the pump, but I could not find anyone in the...
Interesting. I've had it in line for the past 3 weeks and my pH has been stable around 8.3. Coral growth has increased a lot. I might move to dose directly to the sump, but still unsure. The ato way seems to be working well. I set up met controller to only dose kalk into the ato when my ph...
Has anyone tried the mod to replace the ball bearings on their mp's?
One of mine has a hum which I would like to reduce. I'm past my 1 year warranty so I'm thinking about doing this. The only part I'm not sure of is pulling the ball bearing. Some say a bearing splitter is the safest bet, but...
Maybe the "design" flaw of the fan on the bottom finally got to him, lol
Oh, and the design flaw isn't really a flaw as others have stated in other posts :)
IMHO any controller which you learn how to really use is worth it. I honestly wouldn't be keeping a reef tank without one as it saves me from having to do my major maintenance work. I use it to run the pumps, lights, do my water changes, top off my ATO Top off, run my mixing station, run Kalk...
