Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
You can run bio pellets in any fluidized bed reactor. The sponges are removed and replaced with mesh, either TLF screens or you can get it at a craft store and make your own. It's called plastic canvas and used for various crafts and you can cut it to fit your reactor.
The bacteria grow on the...
What size tank do you have and what are you current inhabitants?
Some common types usually found in local stores are: Bartlett's, Lyretail and Sunburst Anthias.
Aquatic Obsession always has a few types when I go there. AO has a nice Bimaculatus Anthias I was looking at, but they just have one...
When the float switch stops the flow of outgoing water, back pressure causes the diaphragm inside the auto shut off to stop the flow of incoming water. When the float switch opens and releases the back pressure on the diaphragm, water production resumes until the float closes and builds up...
I'll be a crash test dummy. If there is a problem, I'll find it. I can work on the mobile side of things, I cruse the site several times a day from my phone.
It might be a pain and I'm not sure you have the means to do it, but if you pull the hard drive out and install it as a slave drive in another computer, you will be able format the drive. Reinstall the drive and you can then delete all partitions and install XP on that drive.
We could be like that huge pot growing operation I saw a report about on the news. They tapped into the electric before the meter and used an estimated $50K worth of electricity. :o
Build looks good but from a engineering/structural stand point, I would mount the hanging kit from the frame/heatsink or add additional screws to the lids. Having only two mounting points in the lid, supporting the entire weight of the fixture, is going to result in a cracked lid and possible...
It's too hot to sit there and scrub, let the vinegar do the work. If it is really caked on, soak a paper towel with the vinegar solution and lay it on the barrel for 15-30 min. Then wipe off. Straight vinegar will take less time to disolve the calcium deposits. ;)
I think I might ditch the SCWD and run two Sicce Syncra 2.0 pumps on the 65. One to each return for a bit of redundancy should one fail, 5 year warranty is kinda nice. I'll run the SCWD on the 40B with a single 2.0.
I think a more important question is, do you want real live rock or man made aquacultured rock? Most stores ive been to lately are carrying "real reef" aquacultured rock and real live rock, like that which actually comes from Fiji, Tonga, etc., is getting harder to find.
I am picking up a 30 gal for myself and Bax is not too far from where I work. I've been wanting to take a trip to Trop. I know you are not that far from there, if we time it right, you could meet me there?
I know the last lot always talked of expanding, but this time it's actually happening. There is a hole in the wall (still needs to be finished) to the other side, and I could see them building a new counter where the register will be on the other side.
Drove by today and there was an under new management sign out front so I drove around the block to investigate. First thing I noticed was hours on the door :o and they were open! They also need to put out an under construction sign, as they are expanding into the store next to them. The new side...
