    Hello Everyone !!!

Hey Ronen, It was great meeting you too. We definitely had a great time on Sunday. What a rush of a day! I gotta say, though, I should have followed your lead and dumped my water outside :o I wish I would have had more time check out your corals. It looked like you had some really nice stuff...

    Finally a member

Great, welcome to the club! You should post a little about yourself and your tank in the Introductions Thread.

    sealant

Yeah, both Silicone I and II have that statement on them. Silicone II has some sort of mold retardant that can't be used in an aquarium. Silicone I is pure silicone and is OK for aquarium use. I think they just put that disclaimer on it so they can sell there other stuff for a higher price. Do...

    sealant

Greg, I have 3 tubes of Silicone I from Lowes that I planned on using for an overflow box. I've since changed my mind and have no immediate use for them. You're welcome to them if you want.

    The Soprano's

I hope you're right. I was a little disappointed that they killed off Johnny Sachs with cancer. BTW, wasn't he healthy just last week? Must have had a fast spreading case! I heard Frank Vincent (the guy who plays Phil LeoNardo - curse those rats at Ellis Island!) interviewed today. He said to...

    Tropiquarium (Ocean Twp)

Yeah, Trop is the "Gold Standard" in this area. They're who got us into reef keeping. Their pricing leaves a little to be desired but it's still a very good store.

Talk about no good deed going unpunished!

I'll have to keep the exacto blade in mind. The drill did hurt a bit, mainly because it was hard to hold back the weight of it while still making progress. Once it popped through the nail I drilled into the raw meat a little. That sent me screaming! After that, though, the releif was fantastic...

    The Soprano's

So has anyone noticed that Melfi and Tony are never in the same shot together? There is NO WAY they are in the same room when those scenes are filmed. It's been that way for a few seasons now. I was first tipped off to it by how stilted the dialog has become between them. Then I realized, you...

NY/NJ: Manhattan Reefs Spring Frag Swap - April 15th

    DIY carbon reactor, any links??????????

Yeah, we did a calcium reactor build in February 2006. I would describe it as a big bust. I don't think anyone who built one wound up using it. We gave it way more than the college try and had ours running in our sump for about a year. The thing was awful. We started it out with the screw in...

    Water storage

Sounds like a lot of lugging but it should work. When I do water changes on the tank in my bedroom I do basically the same thing. I put a brute garbage can in the bathroom and then lug five 6g jugs up the 2 flights of stairs. I fill the brute, add salt, mix and heat for 24 hours, then siphon...

Talk about no good deed going unpunished!

OK, so I remember hearing that when you get a blood blister under a nail you're supposed to drill a small hole in the nail to relieve the pressure. Let's just say that doing that hurts like HELL and makes a bit of a mess! I think it worked though and I should be able to keep my nail. But wow...

Talk about no good deed going unpunished!

Yeah we were pulling it out of my truck in his driveway when he dropped it. Once that thing smashed my finger I yelled a few expletives and left him with a TV halfway into his garage. As far as I'm concerned it can rot there!

Talk about no good deed going unpunished!

I put a 35" TV on FreeCycle the other day and someone jumped right on it to come and get. We told them it was a big TV (yeah, duh it's a 35") and that it was pretty heavy. They were also going to take a pair of 4' tall speakers, a component cabinet and the TV stand. At 10am a frail older man...

    New 4 gallon Nano!

I used rock and water from my main system and some new sand. Threw it all together, called LiveAquaria and had fish, inverts and corals in it the next day. It's been over a year and I still have all of the fish and inverts. All of the coral I lost was due to overgrowth by other corals. JME...

    llamas

Ahhhhh . . . . I went to the link . . . . Make it STOP . . . MAKE IT STOP. I've got a llama earworm that won't go away! My weekend is gonna be ruined! Geeze I've never heard anything that buries itself in your brain so quickly and won't go away. If you haven't gone there DON'T . . . but you...

    Starting 12 gallon nano cube

Wow, that's sounds like a really good price. I think I paid $180 for mine. I pulled all of the ceramic rings and bio-balls out of mine. I still have the sponges in but they are going to go soon. I've heard some people say that they fill the back center chamber with LR rubble. Good luck with it!

    Plumbing - Adapting and Reducing

I agree that Lowe's seems to be the better place for plumbing parts. I've had much more luck finding what I need there. As far as reducers, yeah there are a ton of different options. The only problem is it takes a while to find what you're looking for. The logic they use for putting things on...
