    Plumbing question

You may not want to hear this but in my opinion you really should step up to a bigger size right out of the pump and step back down just before the fitting in your display tank. If it were me, I would come out of the pump at 1" and immediately step up to 1.5". I'd carry the 1.5" all the way up...

I don't know Mike, you seem to be doing pretty well with that camera! What's that yellow thing in the last pic? It's really nice.

    sump in basement Help

Tom, there should be no problem using flex hose for your drain line. As far as the sizes, it's hard for me to tell. Honestly, I never tried anything other than what I have so it's hard for me to say what results you'd get with other equipment/sizes. Sorry, maybe someone else who's gone with...

Tying into the Basement - Pic Intensive

In our application, I am using a 2" pipe for the drain and 1.5" pipe for the return (we have the same setup of 1" drain and 3/4" return bulkheads). I have no drain problems with the 2" but never tried 1.5, so I have no idea if going with that size will cause you any trouble or not. As far as...

Tying into the Basement - Pic Intensive

Chris, we got the storage containers from a member named Jess who was selling them a while back (here is the link).  Unfortunately, he hasn't been around lately and this thread is quite old.  You can try PM'ing him to see if he still has any.  They are great.  They hold about 55 gallons and...

    Water Change

arvin, that looks good. The only recommendation I would make is to not add the salt until the day before you plan on doing the water change (when you plan to turn on the power head). I've found that premixed salt sitting around for too long kind of fouls the container. We have basically the same...

    sump in basement Help

Tom, conceptually it looks good but I think you may be a bit undersized across the board. First off, I'm not sure if a Mag18 is going to give you enough flow in your display tank. I know what they're "rated" to do, but in reality, I haven't seen it especially pushing water up that high. Are...

No clue, Brian. Let's just call it "Something teal with Burgandy". It was one of the frags I got from MichaelM (HUGE thanks to Mike, BTW!).

    Really Quiet Pressure Pump

I would be reluctant to restrict the flow coming out of your pump. It's really not good for them. The best thing to do would be to come out the the pump and go into a Tee. Have one leg from the Tee go to where ever you are currently planning for it to go (return to the display tank, ect). Put a...

    Water Change

I voted for once a month because that's what we do for our 120.  On the 65 . . . . well, that's another story, once every 6 months maybe.  For my nano I had been changing once a week but that tapered off to about once a month now too.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERV!

I think that's really a page out of the Phillipines edition of Gulliver's Travels! It's from the chapter "Merv and the Lilliputians"

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERV!

Happy belated birthday Merv. So is it just me, or is anyone else surprised at how well Merv's loose fitting clothes hide this chiseled physique? I had no idea!
