He was pretty gross.
I was dipping some SPS because a couple of frags had RTN'ed on us (and I don't think that happens for no reason), and I found that nasty critter.
I promptly dipped every SPS frag in the tank, and this weekend might be time for a mass dip of all of the corals in the frag...
Welcome back Erna!
Congratulations on the new addition to the family, that is wonderful news!
Tell Doug for me that I am glad he is recovering. 3/4" lost is too bad, but thank goodness that he will be walking again soon.
This is my original thread on our pod culture.
This article is what led me to start this project
Mike, the pods feed off of the algae that grows in the jar. I don't "feed" the culture after the initial few pellets, the sun produces algae and the pods eat the algae. The article that led me...
It is not really photo worthy George, but I'll take a pic and text it to you tonight.
It is a hurricane jar that holds about 1/2 liter, and it is somewhere between 1/4 and 2/3 full at any given time with greenish liquid.
It is pretty unattractive, usually pale green with tiny red specs (tigger...
Thanks Dan. I picked her; I've been keeping pod cultures on and off since 2009 (we had mandarines at that time), and I was committed to keeping her healthy so I've been running pod cultures continuously since he arrived. I've also added about 6-7 bags of pods to the tank since we bought him to...
It is very easy. I've had the same culture running since March (full disclosure: not 100% sure why it hasn't crashed yet, they usually go 3-4 months- I think it is related to me not fertilizing the orchids).
I like Bryant's idea.
You can also take some putty, dip it in sand/shells, and use that to aquascape around a pipe. I've seen some very cool "structures" built that way.
Alternatively, if the whole pipe is removable, you should be able to remove, cut, and put back in.
I am sorry to hear that.
Don't give up on them yet, we had several pieces I thought were dead after our disaster this winter, and they are trying very hard to prove me wrong right now.
LOL!!!
James, Xavier and Tommy, thanks :) I get a lot of strange looks from people when I talk about my stocking list for our tank, and i appreciate your appreciation for my itty bitty fishes.
Pete, I'm glad you liked the gobies, thank you for the kind words - you just have to come again...
Discouraging: Finding a pompom crab we though we had lost in 2009. . . on the floor, dead, in our fish room. Looking at our 2012 coral list, compiled when we were setting up the big tank, and realizing that several of the pieces we lost in the last year can't be replaced. Watching the porites...
The majority of the group of assesors is new, Mike bought 6 of them for me for our 4th anniversary. We had two already, one of which we bought the week before we got married, at MACNA in 2009. The 8th fish (the other vibrant one) has been with us for about 6 months. I have noticed that...
