Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
ours has been in the tank for about 8 months, he went for a walk yesterday and of course stung another one of our corals. this is my second of two bubbletips, both seem to relocate periodically for no reason I can find (sigh).
We have a 20g with an open top and a 30g with an open top.
In the 20G:
three juvenile tank-bred bengaii cardinals
one african flameback angel, about 1.5-2"
things that have jumped from the 20G in the past 12 months:
longnose hawk
dracula goby
4 cleaner gobys (two sharknose, two regular blue &...
For fish that are know as jumpers jawfish and wrasses are the worst. I have seen wrasses jump in the fish store. For non reef safe, eels will find any hole to get out of your tank. An octopus would also fall into the category of not reef safe but needs the lid locked down.
Ask qwik, he has had many clowns jump. The only fish that can't jump is a seahorse. I have had gobies, hawkfish, and jawfish (no suprise) jump. I have read on here of clowns, angels, and wrasses jumping. That really doesn't leave you with much.
Hey buddy why don't you add the chipps acro and purple efflo that you only frag once a year. I believe that brings me up to 4 frags/colonies, so if I can add the superman monti as my freebie that would be great.
Just realized I was logged in as my wife this is mnat.
Looks great Paul!
What kind of lighting are you running for those Zoas? What are the dimensions of the tank? I ask out of self-interest. . . I'm looking for better lighting for my Pico than the power compacts it came with.
It is a Tetra heater and I DO NOT recommend it, it is supposted to be rated up to 10G, but my water temp fluctuates and has not topped 75. . . which is a BIG problem. Marineland sells a tiny heater as well, I'll be picking that up this weekend.
If she is paying in the torch that could be contributing to the problem. I had a clown develop black spots from being stung by frogspawn which it tried to host; I removed the frogspawn and increased selcon/garlic, fed blackworms, and my fish recovered.
We had a great although short tenure with a blue spotted jawfish. First off, if you don't have a canopy don't get one. They are jumpers and they will find the smallest hole (ours found a 1/2 inch hole). They have amazing personality and are a joy to watch and if I ever have a tank with a canopy...
I'm the wife who wanted the acro crabs. . . we got ours at Trop. They usually have them.
We were in Reef to Reptiles today, he had three different species on three different corals (including a really pretty blue/white one that almost came home with me).
I do not recommend that skimmer. I tried that one, the (oceanic) biocube skimmer, and the nano fission skimmer (by current), all of them are a waste of money. None of them pulled ANYTHING out of the water.
I am currently using an AquaC Remora now on my 20g and our 30g, would recommend that.
I have to revive this thread... to give AO a shout out for our new Dracula Goby and say thank you.
We were in the store on Saturday and picked him up, and, in short, we got him home and panicked because he was stressed and started PMing AO. Did AO tell us were were idiots? No. Did they tell us...
