Skimmers take a bit to break in, so I'd give it a few weeks.

You'll get skimmate soon, I would think.

Yeah I had this for just under a month. I had a little tonight, I cleaned out the collection cup, it was disgusting. For the hermit crabs I have will I have to get bigger shells for them?

yes you could pick up a few shells for the hermits at a place like trop. or even ebay.

Nah not to many, I haven't really made any changes haha. But I feel like I'm back at step 1, That skimmer is really being a pain. I cleaned the collection cup out, and that baffle (water flow control) just won't snap back on. I have it in there, don't know if its doing any good, but I did everything to try to get the bubbles up and try to get something in that collection cup. I flipped th light off and walked away and I'll check it in about a half hour when I go to bed. Very frustrating. I think i might just get that SeaClone Skimmer for a hang on skimmer. I can't figure this Rio out. I watched the video on youtube again and I don't have their luck. I'll fuss around with it tomorrow. Going to beatle mania tomorrow up at union county arts center, cant wait!

I can save you a couple bucks and give you shells like you have never seen before ;D. I have been collecting shells for oh 32 years. I don't have all of the ones I have ever collected but should be enough for a few hermits.

I just bought 50 saltwater shells for 5.oo on eBay, Really good size and everything. I couldn't pass that deal up. I'll be posting pics of the skimmer today so everyone can see what I'm talking about.

Yeah I usually rinse stuff like that off that I buy from stores or other private sellers just to be safe, alright here are my readings for this week and my water change will be tomorrow.

SG- 1.023
pH- 7.8
Ammonia- 0.50 (I really think that test is bad)
Nitrates- 0
Nitrites- 0

I plan to take out about 3.5 g and just replace it with 3.5 g of my saltwater.

Water change I did monday afternoon, everyone reacted well :) Also I found that my emerald crabs were like ganging up on like 2 of my scarlet hermits, had to shew them away haha. But yeah, I really can't add any more livestock can I? I am just waiting for a job to roll through so I can use my check to get the lights.

I got really impatient today and went out and bought a marine glow bulb for the light strip. Fish like it and it didnt cost to much. Its a good simple solution...FOR NOW

what's the long slender fish? That's a fish right in the second pic on the left?

I must say the light is a little too blue for my taste.
