Its been running for almost 4 weeks now
I have been testing for them. Every other day. My phosphates keep fluttering between 0.00-0.03ppm and my nitrates are at 5ppm constantly. You don't want to run GFO until you find out if you'll need it. And you'll only need it if you have some nasty phosphate problem for something like leaching rock. For biopellets to work, you need both nitrates and phoshates. If one or the other is missing, pellets won't work. I would suggest you test for nitrates and phosphates to see where you are at.
No I'm not. I'm adding it bc I'm eventually going to need it. I plan on having a heavy stock in this tank so why not try and nip it before it gets too bad?+1. It sounds like you're adding equipment to your system just to have it. Let the tank mature and stop messing with it so much man.
Yeah that's a good idea bc I've been running carbon for a long time but always in a filter sock, never in a reactor. Is there a big difference?
Yes more surface area is exposed so it's more effective

Okay so low flow
Sandwhich it between the sponges that way it can't tumble.
It tells you on the side of the container sir
There is a carbon calculator on BRS site. Put in you water volume and type of carbon and it will tell you how much to use.
