Dan's 150 Rebuild

Welp, think I finally got my salinity to where I want it. Right now it sits at 1.025. Tested my tank for everything as well.
Ammo 0ppm
nitrite 0ppm
nitrate 5ppm
pH 8.2
calc 480ppm
Alk 8.1
mag 1520ppm
phos 0ppm

Numbers seem really high but then again I've been doing water changes frequently and only have like 3 corals so I guess that makes sense?

Also, ever since I hooked up my pellet reactor and turned off my GFO, my water has become slightly cloudy looking in from the side. Any ideas why?

Thanks Kyle, I was surprised to see them this high to be honest Lol I think the last time I did a test was about a month ago and my alk was down near 6 lol

I think its that with a combo of not having any coral to be honest. Oh well, it'll be easier for me to balance my alk and calc now :)

There you go lol. Have you thought of maybe a calcium reactor? It's usually more cost effective with larger tanks rather than dosing and is suppose to keep things pretty stable

I have thought about it but they r so damn expensive Lol plus not sure where I could fit one under my tank. Maybe I'll do some research

The cloudy water is a bacterial bloom. As long as your skimmers on and pulling waste just wait. It's probably being caused by your pellets colonizing.

Sorry bud. The media you are putting into reactor is essentially dead coral (aragonite, i believe). So as the CO2 breaks it down., it releases the perfect balanced dose needed by living coral

Disclaimer: This is the way i understand it.

Ohhhhh okay that makes sense. See I knew nothing about calcium reactors so this is all new to me Lol maybe I will invest in one. Maybe sell my doser...

Ahhh my red dragon is all of a sudden not doing too hot. The flesh on the base is peeling off. What should I do? It was in the tank for a few weeks doing good but all of a sudden not so much :/
