I agree.I use a cheapy cf from HD and my macro grows like crazy maybe it wasn't growing because you didn't have enough phosphate in your system for it.
Doubt it. I always had phosphates, hence the GHA on my rocks lol I mean don't get me wrong, it grew, just not as fast as everyone else's did it seemed.
I'm talking to a guy on FB, he has a 5,000K LED bulb that he used for macro algae. Think that'll work?
Oh really? Well then I guess that won't make sense to buy.No better than the natural daylight cfl from lowes or HD.
Ahh okay good to know. Thanks John!Your macro probably didn't grow well because of the hair algae. That will out compete cheato any day of the week.
Rock is out of the tank. Its just an empty tank. I need to add them back in soon but I need to get some starboard firstDan have you tested your tank recently while it's been running in the dark with no food or fish to see if you are leaching phosphate from your rocks?

Outside in a brute can, dried out.Where has the rock been?
I was contemplating that. People said it was harder to keep clean so I may just got completely bare bottom. I was just worried if a rock fell down, it would hit the glass directly.I honestly wouldn't bother with the starboard. I put I in my tank and I think it was harder to keep clean. I went back to sand.
Well I had to take it all out originally to get all the sand and fish out. Couldn't catch anything lol.I would have let the rock stay in the tank, since you were going dark for so long. Just some WC's and you probably would have taken care of and issues associated with it, if any. Now however you will need to re-cure all of that. How much longer are you planning on staying empty?

I was just gonna put the rock in, scape it and let it sit til its good. I'm in no rush for livestock. I still have a ton of work to do under the tank.
I just finally cleaned my skimmer yesterday so that'll be back in service soon. Now I just gotta finish messing with the apex. Went out and bought a netgear wireless bridge today
How long do u think it would take? I do have some dead rock that's been sitting in a bucket from my old fuge. That'll probably help wouldn't it?That's what I would do. Keep it as dark as possible. Even cover the front and top if possible. Let it cook and do a few WC's along the way.
Well I did bleach and vinegar them before and let them dry out in the sun. They've just been sitting in an empty bucket for storage at this point. Rock is white as can be.not sure how long. just keep it going till phosphates are down and cycle is clear. Another way would be to give a bleach bath for 24 hrs followed by a acid bath for 24 hrs. Either muriatic acid or vinegar. I did vinegar full strength. Follow each step with a very good rinse. Then just cycle normally.
I have it and love it. Coralline has encrusted it, protects the bottom glass should a rock fall and no waste build up. Just my experience.I honestly wouldn't bother with the starboard. I put I in my tank and I think it was harder to keep clean. I went back to sand.
Hmmm... Now I'm on the ledge again lol. Is it easy to cut?I have it and love it. Coralline has encrusted it, protects the bottom glass should a rock fall and no waste build up. Just my experience.
