Start of my aquapod - help as i progress

A little update finally! Tank has been running pretty well. Bought a hydorflo yesterday and i already like it. My clown and shrimp more around more too. We will see if it causes any deadspots in my tank though. I added a couple of frags as well. Im only worried about the yellow fiji leather but I hear they take time to acclimate. My clown was sick but seems to be doing better. His color isnt as orange as I think it should be though but we will see. I do plan on redoing my aquascape during my next water change. It just seems like i dont have a lot of places for coral. Time for pictures!

Nice job Constantne!! Looking great so far.

I hope all continues to go well for you.

I will be following along from here.

Great job Constantne. The aquascaping is very nice and open. I especially like the BoilerMaker look!

Keep the pics coming.

What's up bruddah.. Nice work.. I am wondering why I did not get any post about this in my email. Glad you updated. Started to add some corals too I see. Nice.. You put in a fuge? What is that up there on the left? I have to go back and see what else I missed. Keep up with the photos.. awesome!!

Nice damn red mushroom.. Where did you get it.. I need a frag.. :D That little one on the right is just fine.. LOL.. Love the color!!

See that little snail on the mushrooms... You need to get rid of that.. It is a baddie.. Sundial snail - http://www.thesea.org/reef_aquarium/pests/pests_snails.php

Get it out of the tank.. I think that is what it is.. It looks like it.

Also, I have to check back at the lighting you have.. Is it MH? That cap might not do so well.. but good luck with it..

If you know how to take the mushroom off the rock I have quite a few that I can give you! They came with some rock I got and they are looking great. The tank was not meant for coral so if you can get them without the rock one is yours.

A BoilerMaker is when you drop a shotglass full of whiskey/vodka/tequilla into a glass of beer.

Hey that would be nice of you and I am pretty sure the easiest way to get a mushroom off a rock is to wait till it closes up at night and then just use your thumb and rub it off the rock gently. A little prying might be required. However, before any of that, if you can get some decent photos of the mushrooms it would be greatly appreciated. I would love to see them. Thanks for the offer! Very kind!

This next week is CRAZY for me but I will give it a shot and try and get the pictures out there.

Never did a boilermaker but have done jagerbombs and dr. peppers. Might have to give a boilermaker a try sometime. But the shotglass is out already because the mushroom already attached to the rock and its only been a day or two.

nice job with the tank,,,its amazin how lil tanks can look just as nice as big ones...keep the pics coming

Looking good, the leather will take some time. While you wait make sure that the skin does not get so soft and blow off and start littering the tank.

His intank fuge is a soap tray thingy. I have the same one I got from bed/bath. I use mine to rest frag plugs in when I get new corals.

As for that snail it maybe a banded trochus, which are good, I have 2-3.
This is what mine look like.

That would be awesome of you.. Looking forward to it! Can't wait to see the mushrooms! Thanks again!

Hopefully those snails arent bad because i do have a good amount of them.

Yea I did use a soap dish for an intank fuge or now and hold some frags. I dont like it but its fine for now until i figure out what kind of light i want for the bank chamber (Really want LED lighting for that).

Thanks for the advice on the leather also. I tried searching all over for ways to make its acclimation easier.

Oh and I forgot to add, my chaeto isnt growing at a crazy rate I thought it would. Dont know why but its still healthy so I cant complain.

The cheato isnt growing probably cause its getting the wrong spectrum of light. You want something lower like 6700k I read (like my freshwater light here: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=11382).

As for the leather give it time like I said. If it starts looking like the pic be careful. Take the frag out of the tank then blow across (not directly) the surface. If pieces fly it's a goner. This is what happened to mine (bad shipping) and I am glad I performed the test outside of the tank. Here is a picture of the tissue before it failed my "test". See the pealing back tissue. I could have fragged it up and saved some portions.....but I dont (and still dont) have a QT tank.

Any other questions let me know. Hope this is of some help.

Nice looking tank!

Nanos are fun. They're just like bigger tanks, but with less room. ;)

On the mushroom thing, I've had several mushrooms just kind of melt off a rock because they didn't like they way they were saying, and it looked like an oozing piece of old gum or something, but where they fell they ended up proliferating.

I'd say you could probably hack a mushroom off behind the head and just rubberband it to a rock. They're pretty durn hardy!

Changed my aquascaping around. I felt like it had no room for corals and no caves/crevices plus the tank looks a lot bigger now. I do feel like i may need to tweak it a bit more. Tell me what you all think. I think im going to add a pom pom crab whenever i could find one at a decent price. Other than that next corals i want are some zoas.

Look who found each other on match.com. I guess those sites really do work.

At first I thought the new clown was going to die because the bigger one bit his fin and was holding on to it. Now they pretty good with each other.

Also an updated pic of my monti cap. I think it has grown a little since i got it. Would be it better closer to the light?

Feature plans: Zoa frags and possibly a pom pom (boxer) crab.

Based on the color of it (if that's true color), I wouldn't move it any higher. That will just make it lighter. It could use to deepen up a bit in some deeper water, IMO.
