Thanks, that's my daughter Eva, we all call her pineapple. My oldest named her in utero and the family nickname stuck! She like to help around the outside and also try to eat play dough.I like the birch, plain old plywood is too rustic for me. I like your stain choice as well, just did a shelf in it. You are doing a great job~

I appreciate the kind words. In no way can I match your work! When we had our addition done one fellow was this old Italian man, who forever had a cigarette in mouth and cut all trim on a table saw with no fence! Perfect cuts all the time. The doors will be interesting.

Well I have to confess ( red fish blue fish) I have used Bayer advanced. Yes it works and the corals seem unaffected. When I used coral RX the afew would drop at the 5 min mark and younger ones at the 7 min mark. By 15 minutes they would be dead and dissolving. The problem I found was for the montipora nudis. The RX annoyed them but would not dislodge them without basting and time to kill (TTK) was way over 15 minutes. So I tried the Bayer. The con is its cloudy so you can't see anything moving on coral, but it seems to work. The nicotinoids seem to hyper excite the pests and while it does not kill them after 15 min, they can be seen at the bottom speeding around, hyper like. This even applied to the monti nudis. After all corals seemed fine with max polyp extension within 3 hours post dip. The dose I used was about 0.9 ml per 100 ml of tank water.
Pete, I shall put on my “now you are four years old” hat……”nanny, nanny, poo, poo to you.” That translates to the negative words you said when I mentioned I was using Bayer (on my corals only)!
Just keep it away from your bees.
And I use it at 1 ml per 100 mls tank water….for about 15 to 20 minutes. Works great!

Just found it at Home Depot. Had nice patterns so I got it. I tested the stain and saw no diff between maple or pine so I chose the pine. The color will be pretty dark so the patterns will be more subtle.
Oh, and it looks great by the way. Can't wait to see it after you stain it.

So I have programmable reefbreeder LEDs with 90degree optics on my 55. Great color mix but resulted in a red halo appearance in a few spots under red pots. I wanted to get a more diffuse spread and thought 120 degree optics might help. Went on ebay ordered new lenses, opened each light, swapped em out, cleaned the ton of dust bunnies in there and back on. Very cheap and easy project.It may be my sps head but I think the colors look a bit better and yes the halo is gone.
The right optics can make all the difference.

My latest arts and craft idea... Ceramic frag mounts. I got magnets from K&J Magnetics that are plastic encased. Have been using them for over 6months with no problems. Seem well built. The 3/4 inch hold almost 10 lbs and run about 4$ a piece. Smaller are 2$ a piece and hold @ 3 lbs. well I see all these ceramic frag stations and my frag plugs are ceramic...so why not make my own. A coworkers wife is a potter and she recommended dishwater ceramic clay. Reef to reef recommends an earthenware low fire( @2000F) heat. So here is my crude tests

Look into one of these for working in the garage when cold.
