Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
You will be using the 3/4 as your full siphon correct? I assume the bulkhead is 3/4 and not 1/2 as you posted. If you want an opinion on setting up a herbie maybe Sunny could chime in, and post a pic or 2.
You do not need to reduce the return line, they just go over the side of the tank and in... (in a Herbie style)
The gate valve is more effective the closer you get to the sump.
Sorry typing to fast. 180mj/cm2 or 180000uw/cm2. To kill ich you need to go higher still. Cool chart:
The flow rates on a turbo twist and the like are so off its not funny. The 36w turbo twist needs a flow rate around 30gph to get high enough for ich. An AquaUV unit of 40w can do the same...
Lots of misinformation here.
Ich and all life forms can be killed by UV exposure. The dose received by the animal or organism is the determining factor. 180,000 mj/cm2 is recommended in our aquariums to kill protozoa. It is recommended that all water in the aquarium should be sent through a...
Sorry, I understand now. 13' to the top of the display tank or the bulkheads? For the DT upstairs you may want to think about the 70. Your probably looking at about 20'+ of head, and the 55 is doing about 600gph then. You are right on the edge between them. What internal pump do you have...
Sorry I haven't been on the boards at all lately. Mike told me about the thread so I figured I would chime in. Order the ultraflex from flexpvc.com. There is no comparison between this stuff and spaflex. However, if you are just going through the wall regular pvc should be fine. I...
Yes....
The waste line needs to be able to flow freely. Any additional events after the flow restrictor can change the flow through the membrane. Going up a couple of feet shouldn't create any significant change. If you notice a significant increase in product water something is wrong, or...
You still need 2 fittings, a tee and a valve with a compression fitting. I would still put a second valve inline next to the unit. Is there a bathroom sink on the first floor to tie into the drain? I would definitely try to keep the waste water in the house if possible. I would think 200-400...
Couple of things.
A self-piercing saddle valve provides plenty of water for a typical ro unit. You should install an on/off valve separately. If you tap in like hockeynut I prefer to use the 1/4 or 3/8 compression fitting instead of the garden hose attachment.
You can mount the ro anywhere...
+1 Definitely change the bulkheads
I'll throw my two pennies in. I have never had much use for double union ball valves. The only place to install a union is on the in/out of the pump with ball valves to isolate it. You can use single union ball valves but i have found them to be cumbersome...

We get asked about literature fairly often, but unfortunately Marineland, Aqueon and Deep Blue have not provided any in years. If you are looking for literature:

While this looks to be a great idea im not sure how many stores will find this financially rewarding. From what we have been told the initial $1 charge goes to thrive and then the store would charge an additional $ amount per test which may differ from store to store, there is also a substantial...
