I just switched to 2 Vegas from 2x 150W halides and 4x T-5's. I was without lights for a week and lost color in my SPS. It has been a week now and I can see some color coming back with the Vegas.
Welcome to the neighbor hood! I'm just down the road in Stirling and I also just moved from an apartment in to a house. I used the move as and excuse to upgraded from a 40B & 65G to a 120.
I would stick with a glass tank and as others have said, if you have the room downstairs use it.
I am running a RO XS160 on my 120. My tank is lightly stocked, and has been running less than 2 weeks, but it is pulling out some crud from the tank. Waiting to see how it does in the long run when I get some more livestock.
I have 3 of them, two of them I've used now for over a year and have not had any problems. Only downside is they stopped using the magnet mounts and went to suction cups.
The controller can be calibrated which is nice. I have two running on my 120 (500W main and 300W backup) and I calibrated...

I do have them, but they have only been on my tank for 4 days now. So far so good. I love the ability to tune in the lights to my liking, and the reds (not too sure about the greens) really make a difference. I had the tank purple at one point while I was playing with the levels. :)
We should really change the term "boiling rock" as some people, as in this case, take the term literally and the results could be fatal. There is also a possibility the rock can explode.
DO NOT BOIL ANY ROCK IN A POT ON THE STOVE!!!
To "boil" rock means to place the rock in an opaque...
Right now I have whites set to 60%, blues all set to 80% and red and green at 20%. I am using the coral acclimation mode on the new controller and have it set for a 50% reduction for 8 weeks.
Yea, I know there are a ton of option for cable routing along the walls. It's the wall to the lights that I need to figure out. As you can see in the pic, the end of the power wires are HUGE. Right now they go up and come back down.
