    The red arrow does NOT change the temperature, it is used to calibrate once the temp is known. Most people just don't understand how to calibrate the heater

    Also I would bet that the thermometer is wrong as well. This thin plastic ones are all over the place. I would pick a solid glass or a well known digital thermometer.

    I believe the blue arrow changes the heat, the red arrow moves without changing the heat so you can match what your thermometer says
