You want 1 micron, better yet .5 micron for your sediment and carbon block. The micron on the segment filter must be lower lower or equal to the carbon block, otherwise your carbon block will clog. Also I would buy from a well know aquatic retailer, usually much better quality for what we use...

Very true, but the bacteria will die without an ammonia source. So it depends on how long the tank is without ammonia, if it will support the fish or not. You could add the fish and monitor ammonia closely.

Rubble will not add ammonia, or very little.
