Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Yeah, for whatever reason, the 24's are notorious for that crack. It's really a shame. I've heard of so many people getting burned by it. And the worst part is that some of them (like you, I assume) have had the tanks set up for a long time and then "boom", one day out of the blue it just cracks...
If you think clowns stay in one location, you definitely don't want firefish. They are horribly boring, IMO. I had 2 in a nano and hated them. They were great to take pics of because they NEVER moved but other than that they were dull. I eventually moved them into my 180, where they bored me in...
Hey Larry! Thanks for checking in. Sorry I can't help with your lighting questions. I know less than zero about lights. But, the holiday party is coming up. Here is a link to the details. Hopefully we'll be able to see you there. I didn't get nearly enough time to catch up at MACNA.
Coast to Coast Aquariums is a sponsor and local tank builder with some pretty impressive looking results. I have no idea what their pricing is like but you may want to give them a shot.

As Greg said, the 2 to 6 year estimate includes time to get to a point where frags will begin to grow. Very few people should introduce a red planet (or any other SPS) as their first coral ever and expect it to do well. The more prudent course is to take it slow and realize that it takes a bit...
Hey Anthony. Welcome to NJRC. We're glad you found us. I hope you find your time here enjoyable and informative. Good luck with your transition to reef keeping.
I've heard it's pretty good too. Gotta like the fact that they made it on an $11,000 budget and it made $7,000,000 in its first weekend. Now that's one hell of an ROI!
I wouldn't use anything else. The first time I saw Marco rock in person, I went home placed and order and prepared to completely change over my 180.
You DEFINITELY have to cycle it first and it STINKS! We cycled it in a stock tank for a few weeks. It was well worth the effort. The rock is amazing.
