I don't have Singapore nipping experience directly, but I have a Flame Angel and a Half Black angel nip. I've tried Singapore's but I couldn't get them to last more than a few months, neither nippes in that time. Now, my Flame was in my tank somewhere between 2 - 3 years. I started to notice...
I don't see any reason why you can't start a tank with pellets. There's nothing to kill, they are just a food source. As the levels in your tank build up, they will get seeded and begin to be consumed.
I started running the biopellets along with GFO, but after a while removed the GFO and they took over completely. I guess if your PO4 is high enough, you can run both. Mine was high, so I used the GFO to reduce the PO4, then used the pellets to maintain the low levels. I occationally run...
George, I forget the size for the pellet reactor. I have 2 TLFs running and the one that I use for carbon has a MJ600 and I think the other is an old MJ900. In this reactor, flow isn't an issue with the pellets. I usually have to throttle the MJ back, so it's running 3/4 open. I have the...
I'm like the others, started without them for the first few years, but I've been using them for a while and they do collect a good amount of junk. I use the 4"x8" felt 100 micron ones and change them every 3 - 5 days. I just throw them in a bucket with a 50/50 bleach/water mixture for a day or...
I've been running 500 ml of Warner Marine EcoBak pellets. I started them about 1-1/2 years ago. Mine are in a TLF Reactor with a MaxiJet throttled back. I'm still on my original batch, but they are a little smaller than they were in the beginning. My levels have been pretty steady during...
I also test before the dosing and the next day. Sometimes I may test a few hours later, to see if it's at the right number. I think you said you use the API test, which isn't supposed to be the most accurate. But, a while ago I bought the API and thought it was wrong, cause it was reading...
I use the fabric and the debris does stick to them. I've had good luck sticking them in a bucket with 50/50 solution of bleach/water to clean them. I leave them for a day or two, then rinse out and let dry.
Mine is similar to TanksNStuff. I have a 1" drain line, then I added a 1"x2" reducer at the bottom and the 4" filter sock (looks like TanksNStuff's photo) just slips over the reducer. Works really well and saves money.
Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly. Do you test before and after adding? Is that how you know your tank is going up to 400ppm? 3 drops doesn't sound like much. How small is your tank. I was under the impression that all the liquid calciums were not very concentrated. So, I'm not...
I was just there this morning. I don't think there are many weeks when I'm not at either HD or Lowes at least once.
I would love to know why people think I work there, because I've been asked so many times by others if I could tell them where they can find something or if this will work. My...
That's a really cool idea. I usually try to stick them into holes or just superglue gel them to the rock (most of the time). But it does limit moving them in the future.
